Free · No hardware needed

Your metal detector is already in your pocket.

Pocket Detector uses your phone's built-in magnetometer — the same chip your compass app uses — to detect buried metal. No hardware to buy, no Bluetooth dongle to pair. Open the app, calibrate in two seconds, start scanning.

How it works

Three steps. No pairing, no dongle, no app store download.

1

Open the app

Pocket Detector runs right in your mobile browser. Any Android phone with a magnetometer chip — which is most of them — works out of the box.

2

Calibrate in two seconds

Hold your phone flat and tap Calibrate. The app reads the local baseline magnetic field so the signal is zeroed for your specific environment.

3

Sweep and listen

Move slowly over the ground. The signal display spikes and an audio alert fires when you're over buried metal. Dial sensitivity up or down on the fly.

Built for real treasure hunters

Not sensor hobbyists. People who actually want to find things in the ground.

Beach and park hunters

Hit the beach after a busy weekend. Scan the park after a festival. Your phone's magnetometer picks up coins, rings, and keys as well as any entry-level hardware detector.

Backyard explorers

Curious what's buried under your garden? Pocket Detector lets you sweep your own property without buying equipment you'll use twice a year.

Hikers and travelers

You're already carrying the phone. Historical sites, old battlefields, countryside paths — Pocket Detector is ready when curiosity strikes, wherever you are.

Relic and history hunters

The premium upgrade adds find logging and spot maps — mark exactly where you found that Victorian coin and share the location with your club.
